The 21st Hobie® 16 World Championships get underway in Dapeng, China on May 29 – this month! The schedule is action-packed.
First we have our Masters Championships, with a top fleet of sailors including former Hobie 16 World Champions, current Hobie World Champions and many regional and local Hobie champions all on the start line.
The Youth, Women, Grand Masters and Great Grand Masters follow. To show their endurance some of the sailors from Masters will also sail in the Grand Masters and Great Grand Masters.
From there we move to the Hobie 16 Open Qualifying series. The best sailors will move into the semi-finals. The semifinals will add the sailors that have qualified in their own regions. The series concludes on June 12 and 13, when the best qualifiers race in the finals.
The winner will be declared the 21st Hobie 16 Open World Champion. While there have been 21 Hobie 16 World Championships there have been only 16 skippers that have won the honor. Will there be a 17th?
It will be a full program in Dapeng, China. If you can’t attend we will have full coverage on the IHCA web sites and social media sites.

2016-17 Australian Hobie Championships
The 2016 Australian Championships have been announced for Hervey Bay, Queensland. Hervey Bay is a well known tourist destination with a large natural bay sheltered by Fraser Island. Hervey Bay is about a 3 1/2 hour drive North of Brisbane. Not only is Hervey Bay one of the best sailing destination in Queensland it has all the facilities for a family holiday. The 2016 Hobie European Calendar
The European Hobie Class has produced a calendar of Hobie racing for 2016. Designed to help sailors maximize their time to attend as many Hobie events as possible.The Hobie Cat Multieuropeans will take place from July 22nd to 30th on Lake Neusiedl. Hobie Regattas in Brazil
Fun regattas , family regattas and of course the national championships will be held in the north, south and in-between. Brasil has a Hobie regatta for everyone. Have a look at their web site to see what is happening.
2016 Italian Multiclass Championships June 2-5
Racing Hobie 16s, Tigers and Dragoons in Pescara on the Adriatic Sea will make for a wonderul Italian Hobie Regatta. The Italian Hobie Class has steadily built its numbers since hosting the Hobie MultiWorlds and Hobie Europeans. Charter boats for the Dragoon are available.
North American Hobie 20 Next Month at Ocean Springs
The North American Hobie 20 Championships will be held at Ocean Springs Yacht Club, Mississippi, 8-11 June 2016.
America’s Cup Endeavour Programme Extended to the US
The America’s Cup youth education and sailing program, called America’s Cup Endeavour, is branching out to New York and Chicago over the coming months.
AC Endeavour has been operating in Bermuda, the host venue for the 2017 America’s Cup, since last year. The Hobie Wave is the catamaran used by the Americas Cup Endeavour program.
