Hello fellow T2 sailors...anyone getting out on the water? I've been sailing my T2 quite a bit and am finally starting to think about tuning the rig, primarily mast rake. Anyone have any input on what works best? |

Well, all the T2 sailors must be out sailing rather than on the message boards. I checked my shroud position and I was at the 4th hole from the chainplate. Taking what I know from Hobie Wave tuning, I moved it down one hole to see if I could get any noticeable improvement up wind. Subjectively, I would say raking the mast back did not help the boat, but I am curious if anyone else has experimented with this? |

Hello Mistro, I have been sailing the hello out of my boat and having a blast. I can't help out directly because I have the modified rigging but you should give it a try, I'm sure it will have an effect on your sailing. From my experience, I like my mast as straight as possible, that gives the boat more lift in flying a hull and maintaining it. The boats not as fast and won't point to wind as well but at my main lake, that's it. When we go to Erie, I will rake it back as far as I can to give me more power to push through the surf, this also allows me to keep up with the others as we like to stick together. I'm not sure how the boomless sail will react to the adjustments but it would be worth learning. Have you discovered the horrible side effect of the beautiful front handle holes? I don't want to give it away so let me know when you do. Hope you're having fun!! Buxton |

Hi Buxton, I cant think of a problem with the front holes. In fact they are so useful I'm not sure I'd want a boat without them. I'm guessing the issue you have is the holes create spray when you are sailing fast and hose down your crew? Also, I just had the realization that the T2 crossbars are likely the same profile as the Tiger/Wildcat. Can anyone confirm if this is true? Thanks! |

Hi all, I’m new to T2 sailing and my brother and I had a great summer sailing on the Cat and getting familiar with the boat. I live on the east coast of Canada...does anyone know the best place to find T2 parts? ...I realize the model is discontinued...thanks |

Try Fogh Marine, Toronto. Many Hobie parts are similar, some are specific. Happy Hunting. |

Thanks...I was talking to a dealer in Quebec and they said they can get me T2 parts, but they come from Hobie Europe in France as T2 is European model, and Hobie US don’t carry, so I’m looking at putting an order in. As I’m new to CAT sailing, I’m going to try and figure out what key parts normally wear out that I should have on hand, so I can order them. Any suggestions would be appreciated...thinking a second set of rigging would be a good idea, and my mast base is cracked a bit, so grabbing one of those. |

I've also bought Hobie parts from Sextant Marine in QC, they are good people, and know their stuff. The key part is a set of shroud anchor pins. These are the pins (at the bottom of the shrouds) that pass through the lip of the hulls on H14, H16, H17 and H18. Probably, Hobie uses the same part, secured in a different way, on a T2. Check your rudder cams, black nylon type parts. That is a standard Hobie part. Rudder pins should be s/steel, again a standard Hobie part. Happy hunting. |

So I browsed the internet for the T2, and there are sideplates for the shroud attachments. Ignore my earlier advice about shroud anchor pins. I could not see anything specific that you might need. Most parts are generic Hobie parts, other than the sails, tramp, wires and mast. later |
