Wondering if I can buy a threaded stainless steel rod from home depot or lowes instead of paying 62$ for two basic rods from hobie.

Im interested in upgrading from standard fins to turbo fins is why.

The custom thread (Not a standard thread) that stops short of the sprocket exit point and high grade stainless is part of why you should not DIY. A continuously threaded rod would crack/bend under loads and also would also damage the inside of the fin.
