Dear Mr. Travelogue,

Sensational shots, great trip and very educational! Do you know anything about the history of the lodge or tea house (when they were built, who built them)? 8)

Kep, thanks for the historical perspective. I think it adds a certain character to the subject. I suspected you would know all about it. Well done! 8)

Kep where did you get all of that history. I work for CA State Parks (12 more days of vacation before retirement) and have heard the information offered at the tours but don't remember it. Just checked the webpage and saw the information you posted. I was going to suggest you apply for work at the Sierra District.

I love Lake Tahoe and plan on kayaking it as much as reasonable after I purchase a 2009 Adventurer. Let me know if you are interested is sharing some lake time whether it be pedaling, sailing, or fishing. Next year I plan on touring the perimeter of Lake Tahoe at a leisurely pace of 2-3 weeks.

BTW the boats you encountered were most likely from the 2008 Lake Tahoe Concours d'Elegance http://www.laketahoeconcours.com/ . The show is in August though they are there for a month or so. There is an aluminum boat on display (all year) near the Hellman-Ehrman Mansion across (lake side) from Sugar Pine Point SP. They also have a wooden canoe on display near the dock.

Hi Kep and ALL,

As you know Lake Tahoe is one of those special places in the world.
To ALL that have not been there do yourself a favor and take the time. Lake level is 6,250 ft ele. It can be glass in the morning and blow you over a couple of hours later or it can be nice all day. Tahoe Blue is an actual color and you can see why with the help of Kep. Those pictures are not photoshop or filters. Camping, hiking, mtn biking, biking, trail running, swimming, back country, touring, paddling, sailing, Mirage pedaling, outrigger canoeing, fishing (big fish), are all summer sports to be enjoyed at Lake Tahoe.
Yes I love Lake Tahoe!

Thanks for the photos Kep.
