Post subject:  An Unusual Wake Ride
For those of us who like to speed along, boat wakes offer occasional brief opportunities to get up into the eights and nines (MPH). It's often wet but always exciting. Any of the boats will do this with Turbofins and a large rudder (and a little practice).

While in the Adventure the other day I had a rare opportunity to hook up with a boat that was traveling at just the right speed. We cruised in tandem for about 1/4 mile, running at about 8.2 MPH (GPS).

It was so calm -- no one was around to witness this strange looking duo piercing the calm back waters of the lake. This picture captures the sensation of power and speed that makes Hobie a unique breed of kayak:

I understand your feeling. Canoe surfing is a hoot and fun.

We used to do this with single and tandem outrigger canoes though it was much more difficult to get on. The usual speed needed was approximately 15 mph.

Stringy, I was trying to stay low key on the glue thing. Most don't know about that glue ball set. The one above is for pretending to be modest; this next one is for bragging: :lol:

Then it's not too hard to imagine that this next ball must be hiding behind the red cap! :wink:

But the trickiest rides are while sailing -- tiller in one hand, camera in the other and mainsheet held in the teeth -- hoping a gust doesn't come along! :P

Superwave, on these small wakes one usually needs to pedal to keep it going. Even at the more acute angles the bow usually gets jambed in the swell ahead. This is what it looks like to the observer. 8)

Wow! - Roadrunner you have every right to brag about those pics, they are amazing!:shock:
Great work and thanks for posting them!
I hope you can capture the moment the cap is forced off the tube and the ball is flying through the air which could be a real possibility given your pics! 8)

PS -Hobie do an anti pitch pole hydrofoil for their cats that attaches to the bow. I can see you getting some use out of it on your kayaks!! It's P/N 30110 if you're interested.:lol:

PPS-Sorry about the glue reference. I'm sure not too many would have noticed! :wink:
