Post subject:  Click and Go release lever problem with older mirage drives
I am having a problem with my old pedals in my new replacement outfitter.

As I pedal the drum shaft slowly rotates forward in the Mirage Drive. This walks the release lever of the click n go forward into the retract position.
A little grease reduces the friction for a while but after 20 min of pedaling the friction returns and the cam latch will start grabbing again. I noticed from reading other posts that this might be related to not having a newer splined axle design.

Do I need to drive 2.5 hours to get these new axles or can they just be sent to me for replacement?

As the mirage drive popped out yesterday it got jammed resulting in a day ending event (see photo)

Frank, it sounds like you hit the nail on the head. That's why Hobie ships out new axles with the new replacement hulls. I wonder if your dealer is thinking he got some free extra parts!

Why not call your dealer first and see if he can ship these out to you ASAP? 8)

Hopefully the dealer also told you that he ordered them and is having them shipped directly to you or will ship them to you himself?? :?

Just received my replacement Outback 2009 hull down here in Australia and seeing that maybe there should have been a replacement axle for the drive (don't think the local dealer is trying to pull a Swiftie as he looks after his customers like family :D )
Could someone please list the part number this is so I can raise this possible issue with the dealer :D

It's the drum shaft. Needs to have splines cut in the middle where it seats in the spine. You may be able to rough up the stainless and bond with epoxy to the spine as a temp fix.

Not all boats have shipped with a new drum shaft as we only figured this out recently and it requires a seperate order from the hull.

Thanks to everyone for the help here. The new drum shafts have been installed for 2 weeks now without a single slip!
