Post subject:  adventure mast upgrade

hi, can anyone help with a problem I have encountered when fitting the mast adaptor to the adventure, I have cut the hole in the deck and all looks OK but the curve of the deck is too much to allow the mast adaptor to fit against the stud socket on the hull, could it be possible that iit is too cold and I need to heat the plastic then push down hard to get the mast flange to sit flat, dont want to try anything until I get advice, dealer has only done them is the summer and had no problems.

Thanks in advance

Deck curve? The upper part seats on a flat area. The "V" brace system is adjustable for the mast depth in the hull as compared to the crossbar / bearing setup, but I had not heard of the receiver not fitting.

How far off?

if I make the front flat either the rear or the sides are about 7mm up, the stud on hull has only 1 thread showing, not enough to fit the bracket and the bolt. the deck has a definate curve.

Assuming the boat was built to accept the AI mast... not all (older) Adventures are compatible. Does it have the deck fittings for the crossbar attachments? Should be a nub you fit the base of the receiver over and a threaded stud forward of that, that comes through the base to attach the "V" brace fittings.

I am told that the deck areas are sometimes warped off flat and that installation of the backing ring pulls them in line. Also that depths of the hull can vary and may have to be compressed to install the receiver.
