Post subject:  Marine Goop On Hobies

I googled the material of HOBIES and found that they are POLYETHYLENE, the funny part is the FF install Kit came with Marine Goop but, if you read the back it says it is not recommended on POLYETHYLENE?......Steve

I just mounted the transducer so it is a little to late! What does anyone think?

The transducer does not require much of a bond to the inner hull. The Goop is mostly to create a consistant (no air or bubbles) material to shoot the signal through.

Sanding the hull first helps create a better "mechanical" bond.

We use Goop all the time to mount the foam block the transducer fits in. We generally don't Goop the transducer to the kayak.

We cut the foam block on angle, tighter on the top wider against the hull fits tightly, all you do is add a little water works great.
