New to this forum, and to kayaking. I have quite a few scratches, due to barnacles, which I don't mind like I did when kayak was new, but how do I keep the color red bright? Can I use car wax on it or Dw40.. Love my sport and thinking of upgrading to turbo fins..Any opinions would be appreciated. |

Keep it out of the sun as much as possible, UV is a killer of red colors. Use the Hobie UV protectant. |

I can't offer much advice on the color fading but I know that if you upgrade to the turbo fins you will like them. Welcome to the forum. |

we have a red Kona, same red as the sport, standing outside for a sign that must be 4 years old now. Yea its faded but you can only tell when a new boat is close by. It's been outside 100% and never cared for, well it does get rinsed off when it rains.... |

Hello LadyKayak, I am also new to yaking, and like you I am turning to this forum for answers. Even so, I would recommend against using WD-40 on your hull. WD-40 is a general lubricant for moving metal parts, best if they aren't exposed to a dusty environment. Also, FWIW, don't use it on firearms. MMM |
