I just orderd a TON of Hobie accessories today,(over a month's pay all together) including a spare Mirage drive with Turbos, just as insurance on the water, cart, and lots more.

And, buying EITHER an Outback with Turbofins (and having rudder control moved to the right side and plastic welding the hole where it was on the left)
or ProAngler next week.

I can't decide between Ivory or Yellow.

On either, Yellow is more visible to powerboaters and looks good on an Outback, I like how Ivory looks on a PA .... Both are cooler to the touch in hot sun than the dark colors ...

I just retired recently, my "back pay" just arrived from 2007 until 2009, and my monthly retirement income just started, and I have soooo much time on my hands, it will get a lot of time in the water/ lots of sun. So, I'm finally ready to buy what I have been going to buy, but was waiting till the $ arrived

I know, buy 4 kayaks, one of each color in each model, but trying not to do that because there's only one of me.

Anyone know ...
Which might take longer to fade, and which might have higher resale when I upgrade to a new year's model Hobie several years from now?.... wonder which color might resell best tooo .... which is in more demand now I wonder..

I vote for PAPAYA (yellow)...much more visible on the water. The sand and ivory look like whitecaps from a distance. I have not noticed my Outback (papaya) being hotter than my buddy's sand colored Hobie.

Good luck with your purchase...the PA looks like an awesome fishing machine!

If you're out in waves and chop, any colored kayak can disappear frequently. I'm usually on quieter lakes and ponds in my ivory dune Adventure and add a bright flag when powerboats / jet skis are present.

The PA in dune is very hard for me to resist.

congrats on your retirement RPB,relish the well deserved time on the water. I've had my papaya adventure Island since they first came out, shows no sign of fading despite being in the tropics, enjoy the heck out of it.

Your post shows that you like colors! It really doesn't matter much between the two, except how each makes you feel to look at and sit in. Festive Papaya or clean Dune? It would be cool it you could get 2 tone -- maybe one boat color and one hatch color for some accent? But then, you can always spice it up with colored tape. Maybe once you select which model, your color will speak to you!

Congratulations on your retirement -- you and your Hobie will make great fishing partners!! :wink:

My old Sand colored kayak I had gold reflexite reflective tape on port/starboard and red/green on bow and white SOLAS tape on stern (it almost glows in the dark)

Just drove my niece to school before sunrise today and I'm thinkin' whatever color kayak I get, I'm putting that yellow schoolbus reflective tape on it.... I use two Beseenwear.com flags and a Glowear Ranger hat.... they get seen as my head and flags are the highest points on the kayak;)

Decided on Papaya,
Asking people with experience in both ... Outback and ProAngler
(I'm not planning to go out in 4 foot swells, but often encounter 20 knot wind on lakes)
Which handles boat wakes from Powerboats better?
