with the drab Moss color of my PA I have a Visipole ordered from Yakattack.com anyone else running a safety flag and has it saved you from being run over by a power boater?

I don't have the safety flag for my Outback but I do wear the following: A bright red Hobie kayak life vest, A bright red ball hat. I also keep track of boaters around me and practice avoidance. So far so good. In the 2 months that I have been kayaking, I have had only one rude instance from a pontoon skipper who was looking straight at me and heading straight at me; I veered to the left and he finally veered to his left. There is no accounting for seamanship or courtesy. RickM46

[quote="atavuss"]with the drab Moss color of my PA I have a Visipole ordered from Yakattack.com anyone else running a safety flag and has it saved you from being run over by a power boater?[/quote] I have a Visipol and it is super quality and nice and still have not changed my batteries, I have not even opened it up yet (Probably should though), Luther and those guys are fantastic (yakattack.us) i am pretty sure you will get an American Flag also.......Mine goes right into my Middle Rod Holder of my Live Baitwell, no screwing ness.....It is not only superb for Night time buy great for daytime, plus it will out burn any other light out there and it is 4'6" tall which makes it even better....The Best Light out there by far.............Steve I also wear Mango PFD Fisherman and it is not enough here in Texas where boaters dont have any clue about proper boating.......

I was so impressed with the VISIpole from yakattack that I ordered another for my son's yak. he was disappointed I did not order the Jolly Roger flag for his yak. both are the American flag units. Luther and his crew are very customer oriented.

I'm in Texas too. 1) CONTRAST with background 2) Dual Colors 3) Reflectivity I was very surprised that there was no reflective tapes on AT ALL Hobie's PFD.I added sew on yellow and reflective ribbon tapes to the Mango PFD, like the ones on the hats below, and I wear a matching Glowear ranger hat like the ones below. Obviously I do, though I couldn't testify that they see the flags first, because my whole kayak glows, but the flag and light are the highest points besides my hat, so they must see them first. note reflective schoolbus tapes on photos below on kayak and rod holders also note reflective tapes added to PFDt on straps and in mesh pockets added to Hobie PFD the yellow reflective tape on straps (bottom left corner) added to Hobie PFD in mesh pockets added to Hobie PFD in mesh pockets Yellow tapes on rodholders/kayak is "school bus" reflective tape.

I was thinking of adding a yak attack mighty mount to the back of my PA12 for the flag

On our Oasis we don’t have a flag but always take the sail along which is visible quite far even furled. In my experience, even with the sail in use, the big boats often don’t see us cuz they ain’t even looking. Happens way too often. I keep an air horn can right at my side and it usually gets their attention... Peter

I need to get an air horn.
