upgrading my V1 to a V2

Post subject:  upgrading my V1 to a V2
are these the parts i would need to make my drive the strongest available? this willstill fit my 07 revo correct?

also, if i were to buy a completely new V2 drive, would it work fine in my 07 yak?

Looks complete.

Drives are interchangable between model years... except that the newer hulls with Click-n-Go need the latest drum shaft.

So Matt... How about a an "upgrade kit" with all parts, instructions, and and a 10% discount off individual component prices?

Because manufacturers often provide parts bundles at lower price than the sum of the individual parts. And because it will cost me less.

Sorry i miss understood the "10% discount off individual component prices?" Bundle or individual?

Hobie has repair "kits" that are bundled. Maybe they will come out with a upgrade kit for the V1 like your after.

Not available as a complete V1 to V2 upgrade, there are several iterations out there with some V2 drums / V1 sprockets combinations.

I do have a bundled sprocket and mast set for both the standard fins and the ST Turbo.

I have the 09 Click & Go Outback hull but an older drive. With no particular reasoning behind it, the drive sometimes "pops out" frequently while other times it does so less. Last week I bought the latest (I think) drum shaft from Hobie to solve the pop out problem, but was surprised that the part looks the same as the old drive drum shaft except that the ends are chamfered and not rounded. I am hesitating to replace the old shaft with the new part since they look so similar. I was under the impression that the newest shaft had some added notches or something that prevented the shaft from turning and popping out.

Could you fill me in on the actual differences between the older and newer drum shafts? I'd hate to do major drive surgery and still end up with the same pop out problem.

It sounds like you have the correct part. The newer style drum shaft is chamfered on the end and has splines in the middle of the shaft to prevent it turning and unlocking the click-n-go.
It's a very easy job to just tap the old shaft out using the new shaft and then keep tapping the new one in place until it is centred. You don't have to loosen /adjust anything! :)

Oh, I get it ...the splines do the trick. I just guessed that the old shaft had those (hidden at this moment) splines as well. Thanks!

Wow! Thanks for the shaft install tip (just pound the old shaft out with the new one)! I was ready to do major surgery and take the whole drive apart. But this job took 5 minutes!

Now it's off to the lake to see if this new shaft solves my drive pop-out problem.

I was out for just over an hour and did some fairly robust peddling, yet there was not even one pop-out incident. Looks like this fix is a success! Thanks!
