Hi -- I have a 2007 Outback and Mirage Drive. I keep having problems with one mast loosening from the socket, which causes the drive to fail, no matter how I tighten the set-screw. I want to order these parts to both a) upgrade to Turbo Fins, and b) use the new V2 system with threaded masts. (BTW, I sure wish I could order parts directly from Hobie). 2 x 81129001 V2 Sprocket 1 x 72066001 V2 Turbo Fin kit with masts and stuff... Is this all I need? I assume these parts will retrofit my '07 drive and boat just fine? Thx! |

Yep. I just had this done today at my local Hobie dealer. I had the same problem with you, although it didn't manifest itself until after I installed the ST Turbos. I had a mast fall out not once, but twice on the water this weekend. Luckily, it was fairly easy to repair on the water so it wasn't too bad. The V2 sprockets are $15 each and the ST Turbo kit is $90. The parts are the same price everywhere. ![]() |

Great, parts came from kayakfishingstuff.com My question now, is -- can I follow the instructions for "Sprocket replacement in the field?" to replace the sprockets? Or do I need to the more comprehensive (but complex!) FAQ for "Sprocket and Drum Replacement." Also -- can I go ahead now and screw the masts into the sockets, prior to installing? Thx! |

You can use the sprocket only replacement instruction. You can install the masts at any time. May help to have them in place to properly align in the chains. Be sure to mark the center cog location on the chains before removing the old sprockets. |

Thanks, Matt! Planning on a fishing trip in the AM, and the boat's in a remote location, so I wanted to get my ducks in a row, first, since I'm sure I'll be working by flashlight. <sigh> I'll be interested in seeing if I can get a little more speed out of my trusty -- but slow -- Outback with these Turbo fins. They look great. |
