I've got a 2008 mirage drive with the ST Turbo Fin Kit. It doesn't take much pedaling force to shear the plastic teeth off the sprocket. Is there a stainless steel sprocket available that is better able to handle higher torque? |

Something else is going on with your drive. This is not typical at all. The stainless sprockets are avaialble, but if pressure on the pedals is damaging the teeth... you will simply skip teeth on the stainless ones. |

Thanks for the quick reply. I have sheared teeth off my mirage drive (1), the loaner drive I used while mine was getting repaired (2), and mine again once I got it back (3). I'm pushing them pretty hard in fairly rough seas, but I don't believe I am being ridiculous. The symptoms go like this: Pedal for a short time... no problem. Push to about 4 knots per the knotmeter, and I hear the chain begin to slip at times as the pedals reach being fully separated. From there, any decent burst breaks the teeth... then there is a lot of slipping. Would simply tightening the chain solve this problem? |

That sounds like you have loose chains. Check the owners manual for recommendations on tuning the Mirage Drive. |
