I have just ordered a new (2010 year model) hobie oasis for me and the Mrs. Hurray!! It will be in in about a month.
I want to build my own plug in scupper cart before it comes in following some of the suggestions on this forum. Can someone please provide the following from a 2009 (presume no changes from 2009 to 2010) model for me? - greatly appreciated !!

The scupper holes do go all the way thru the hull - yes/no ?
The hole spacing distance (center to center)
The total width of the hull at the level of the cart plugin (=scupper) holes. Want this distance in order to figure out how wide to space the wheels so they are wider apart than the scupper holes but do not protrude way outside of the gunwhales at that point.

Your responses are greatly appreciated.

About 11". There is a small individual difference from boat to boat (due to the rotomolding process), so I used the Hobie cart legs as a reference.

about 32 1/2" at the cart scuppers.

Note -- make sure your cart legs are long enough to extend all the way through the scuppers. Or beyond if you're planning to "pin" the cart in (see below) so it doesn't fall out when pulling the boat off your car. 8)

Regarding enough length to make sure that the top of the "H" vertical bars go completely through the hull and can be pinned to keep from dropping out, can you suggest a length?

Guess that I will make extra tall and then cut down after I have the kayak

once you get it built take it to your dealer and try it out on another Hobie Kayak, if it works on one it'll work on all! Congrats on the purchase you will not be disappointed! What color did you get?

Of course, each boat has a different scupper depth. Oasis has one of the deepest scuppers. The cart shown here has 10" legs above the cross bar to the tip of the "I" bolts -- the I bolts peak through just enough to hook with the tennis balls compressed a little bit by the weight of the boat:

So if you go with the tennis balls use at least 10"; if not, you can trim later.

Oasis cart scuppers are located inside the rear cockpit. There is a bungee hook nearby normally used to retract the Mirage Drive fins in shallow water and for beaching. With I bolts on your cart you can use this hook to keep the cart attached to the boat while lifting it off your vehicle:

I went with yellow for a couple of reasons:

1) Safety of being seen by speed boats
2) Saw that someone had checked temperatures from solar heating and found that yellow absorbed the least amount of heat
