HOBIE TRAX “2” Plug-in Cart #80044101

The Trax “2” Cart has new 24 cm (blow-molded polyurethane) pneumatic tires. These tires have a higher capacity and are very durable! The rim is a smaller diameter which gives a larger sidewall to prevent pinching and valve damage under heavy loads. The pressure range is double that of the original Trax wheels (now 3–4 lbs) which is easier to maintain. (176 lb Cart Capacity)

This is the best all around cart for soft sand and uneven terrain. The tires are wide and can be deflated for better performance over soft sand and soil. Welded Stainless steel construction, solid stainless axle. Wheels are easily removable for storage. Also includes cart keeper feature and cart clamps.

I can't believe this. 2 weeks ago I bit the bullet and got the old model! I hope they do not come out with a "new improved" sail kit.

Matt, will these newer wheels fit the original wide wheel base Trax '1' Cart? I need to replace the wheels and would like to put these the Trax'1'Cart.

Same frame, so yes. You can get new replacement tires for the original Trax frame.

Ahoy Matt,

My Hobie dealer just cant seem to get the new Poly 24Cm wheels Down Here so I will have to order them from the USA, is 24Cm the largest model you can fit under the AI on my new Wide-track Hobie cart Frame?

I see they also have 30Cm wheels which would be even better for my soft sand use, would they also work/fit?

I'm a novice Hobie guy, but I just don't see the unique-ness of the Hobie cart... The Revo weighs 60 pounds; put 20 or even 30 pounds (a LOT) of stuff in it and it still weighs less than 100 pounds. I made a scupper-fit cart out of 3/4 inch PVC, a pool noodle pad, a couple of pneumatic wheels and an axle for about USD $25 and it works just fine for getting from the vehicle to the water, over dirt, grass, pavement or sand ...

The same goes for rod holder extensions... a piece of 1-1/4-inch PVC with a couple of wraps of Gorilla Tape to fit the flush-molded rod holder, mated with appropriate fittings to a piece of 1-1/2-inch PVC and held in place with a bungee cord works just fine.

But, because I'm a newbie, have I missed something critical? :?:

Yes! You've missed the critical part where money leaks out of your wallet. :)

Seriously though, you are right in that there are certain add-ons and accessories that are "low hanging fruit" for the do-it-yourself minded person. The cart being one of them, with outriggers and various mounts being potential others.

Hobie products (and all marine products in general) tend to be fairly pricey compared to any terrestrial alternatives, but ultimately it comes down to the end user. If you want to make your own stuff, I say go for it. Some people may value their time in other ways, and thus opt for off-the-shelf solutions.

Just be sure to share your ideas and solutions. ;)

Hey Ya'll
We bought ourself a Hobie Traxx cart three/four years ago and it has been worth every penny spent. We have never had any problems with it at all. We typically put the cart on, then fill up our Hobie tandem oasis with all of our gear, and wheel the whole rig from wherever we parked our car on down to the beach and into the water. Once in the water we lift up one end of the Kayak and drop out the cart (it floats). Sure you can make your own cart too, lots of people do, Im just saying the Hobie cart works great too if anyone out there is thinking about buying one.

I made a cart out of PVC, but it cracked a couple of time so I had to reinforce it. I would like to reduce the amount of weight I carry so I am looking at the new cart. Anyone have a weight on it?

Hi Max,

I have been looking at the 30cm wheels as well. Unfortunately, they are ~5cm wider than the 24cm wheels but there is only 2.5cm clearance with the 24cm wheels so it looks like we are out of luck unless you want to have a custom cart built.

Hi Ranger,

my Trax 2 cart weighs just under 7 lbs. I also have a set of clamps and rubber balls loaded on it.
