I read on another site that Hobie has awnings / bimini tops available for their Outbacks. Anyone have any info on this? I would sure like to get one if they are indeed available. Any idea on a price and how to obtain one? Thanks |

I saw them at the Cedar Key messabout about a month ago. There is a commercial model, but I don't have the URL at hand. The ones I saw used the two rear rod holders and the mast step to hold the uprights and had a triangular awning. I am going to try to make my own. Ron |

Hey--I like it--the Polar Kap awning that is. Seems a bit pricey however, and I imagine one could construct a reasonable facsimile for a lot less, and have a more fun doing it. Never been handy with a sewing machine, though, so that might put a damper on things unless I can convince the little woman that this might be a reasonable cancer preventative for mid-July... |

The Bimini mount requires 4 mount holes drilled. The mount is positioned just behind the seat. This mount should fit most any kayak as it can expand or compress for differing boat widths. The 4 holes will be in the rails on either side of the cargo area. The attachment is via expanding nuts. Rubber that expands inside the hull as the screw is tensioned. Very secure and water tight. Wind shield? How about a Dodger? 
This fits the Adventure, Outback and the Sport. You can sail with it in place too. |

The Dodger is held in palace by 6 eyelet posts. Little bungee loops over each. It is easy to release and fold forward to get out, adjust pedals or whatever. |
