Has anyone had a problem with the Hobie seat slipping forward? I have a Mirage Revolution and like to sit more upright. That is more difficult when the seat posts slip out of the holes in the bottom of the seatwell. Any solutions will be appreciated. |

There has been lots of discussion on this issue. First is to be sure the pegs are in the holes tightly. You can typically tap these in place with your palm, but using a block or mallet makes it easier. BUT... We have change the pegs to make this MUCH easier and more secure. They now have a cam adjustment that makes the pegs tighten into the holes with the twist of a small ring that then gets covered by the seat Velcro. 81265101 PLUG-IN SEAT CONNECTOR KIT ADJ (PAIR) $9.95 LIST

thanks for the reply. Seat posts seem to slip right in and right out - definitely haven't needed a mallet. I will try it again to make sure I have been getting them firmly seated but adjustable plugs will probably be the solution. |

You can use a small amount of tape around the pegs as a shim for the quick cure. |

I had a similar problem with my '09 Revolution. When putting the seat in, I was pushing down directly over the pegs but I didn't move the straps out of the way (that cover the pegs.) After I started moving the straps out of the way and pushing down more directly on the pegs, never had the problem again and have actually had issues on getting the seat out later. Just something else to try. |

Thanks for the suggestions. Tried pressing down firmly directly over the posts today and I believe that will fix the problem. Wasn't in the water but the seat seemed to be well anchored.

I had the same problem until I attached industrial Velcro (Home Depot,Lowes)to the bottomof the seat and the surface of the kayak..... the Velcro comes with adhesive on it but it is not sticky enough so merely apply a thin coat of super glue to the velcro adhesive and apply it to the surface....after sanding the polypropylene surface and cleaning both surfaces with alcohol.I used a total of 4 strips of Velcro.... 3 running fore and aft and one running left and right.Let super glued velcro sit for one hour before using. |

I like to add a plastic boat seat to the canvas hobie seat. The ridgidness of the one piece plastic helps a bunch. All you have to do is sit the plastic seat on top of the canvas seat and adjust the straps on each side to strighten the back upright as much as you want. Works like a charm. |

When I bought my Hobie Sport, I couldnt get the pegs in the holes because it was too tight a fit. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that the seat pegs had a thin plastic "condom" over them that was making it difficult for them to go into the holes. Once I removed the plastic condom, the pegs fit right in comfortably. Maybe you can find some of these Hobie condoms at your dealer? Good luck. |
