Hello everyone,

I've been reading the forum for a while, but figured it was time to register and post now that I'm buying a Hobie. I've settled on an Outfitter that was a display model at the dealer. The only problem is that the dealer has both a 2008 and a 2009 display model. The 2008 is going for $1,800 and the 2009 is going for $2,300. The only difference the dealer explained to me was that the 2009 had the new Click N Go Mirage drive while the 2008 doesn't. I'm fairly unfamiliar with the differences in the Mirage drive (or any other differences for that matter) so just hoping someone can help me choose. Hoping to save a few bucks to spend on other accessories, but don't want to make a bad decision.

What should I do? Are either of these good deals?

I have the 2008 Outfitter and along with the click and go I think the other difference was the rudder has the separate lines for up and down, which if you are looking at the evolve motor is a requirement if you want to have the option of placing the motor on the rudder.

OK got it. So a new rudder as well. That is good info thanks. Still wondering if it's worth an extra $500.

The '09 Drives have improved "V2" sprockets (which can be installed as a upgrade later if necessary). For value, I like the $500 savings (plus tax differential), which would fund some nice accessories. The '09 Click N Go is a great system but you only use it when you take the Drives in and out.

Since the dealer doesn't seem to be aware of the difference in Drives (mentioned above), maybe he will also include those '09 Drives for the price with the '08! You can read about them on the forum and how to identify them. 8)

Save 500 bucks. If the extended warrenty covers the same period of time on the hull. I would ask for that info too before deciding... One year less on the starting time for the warrenty would make a difference downs the road. Good Luck

Thanks everyone, this is really helpful information. I"ll investigate the warranties before deciding.

I have both the 08 AND 09 outfitter

the only three differences (as mentioned above) are the rudder flip control, the click and go peddle retention, and the V2 sprockets.

of those the only REAL difference is the V2 sprockets (which are about 40-50 bucks to upgrade on the 08), they are much more reliable.

If the warrenty is still good on the 08 I would go that route, Hobie in my experience is very flexible with thier warrenty, especially if you buy from a dealer.
