| Post subject: | Transport up or down? |
 It seems to be the consensus that kayaks are properly stored bottoms up, yet most commercial transport systems are made to transport kayaks bottoms down. Which is correct or does it make a difference. Seems to me the gunnels would be stronger and give better support and keep pressure off the hull. Ideas?

The "commercial transport systems" are adapters for rack crossbars (which we store kayaks upside down on) to accomodate those who don't want to flip the hull for some reason. Some kayaks don't have rails like the Hobie, so upright is likely better in their case. Some have hardware or accessories mounted on rails that make flipping for racking impossible. |
