Post subject:  Re-rigging an Outback Sail

I am thinking about re-rigging my Outback sail to get better mechanical advantage. The idea is to attach the sail rope to the rear of the kayak, bring it up to the sail where a pulley would be attached to the sail, then stringing the line back to the rear of the kayak and through a second pulley, then off to the right side of the boat to a cleat device near the Rudder Down handle.

I am not a sailor and have never rigged a sail before, but I think this would be an improvement over the standard sail line to rear pulley to seat arrangement. Has anyone done this? Can anyone think of any potential problems with this set-up?

That's what they do with the Adventure Island. Should work fine. You'll get twice the pulling power, half the speed when sheeting. 8)
