Post subject:  Problem with Mirage drives

The shafts that connect the pedals to the actual drive can be adjusted for different length kayakers. This is done by pulling a pin that fixes the position of the arm to one of several holes on the drive.

My older Mirage has a spring loaded pin set in a u-shaped clip that holds the pedal shaft securely to the drive. I've lost a couple of these clips, so the pedal without the clip doesn't help with any of the work. I am looking for replacement pins.

The current parts catalogue shows a pedal adjustment assembly that looks different from what I have. Does anyone know if this new assembly with work on older models and similarly does anyone know if the older clips are still available and where to get them?

The current system will work on an older drive. The original spring clips are no longer available. You can also use a simple bolt and nut if not doing a lot of adjusting. Some prefer that way as it makes a tighter connection.

Thanks, MM. I've used a shackle pin, but it fell out and it's nice to know that the new clips they sell will work ok with my old drives.

It makes a great improvement! Here's a 2000 Drive with its original pin arrangement:

Here's the same Drive with the current "pedal adjustment" upgrade (note, "Drive Seal", far right, has also been added):

You can also add a pair of pedal adjustment decals for a dollar.
