Do you transport to Outback Bottom up or down. I 've been doing it ,bottom down...Is there a right or wrong way? Thanks Sully |

hi sully, just got an used hullavator (not xt) and don't see how the outback fits into the cradles. my outback is too wide to fit within the bottom and top cradles. the crossbars on my car are as far apart as possible so i can't spread them out anymore either. how did you get your outback to fit in the hullavator? thanks |

Check newenglandkayakfishing...Site I have pics....You loosen up allen head bolts that hold Cradles( JHooktype things on Hullivator) & bypass the stop by 1 5/8 of an inch & the Hobie will fit in Bottom up very nicely. I'll try to put up pics |

I have a 2010 Outback and hullavators. The only way to get it to fit (without bypassing the stops) is to widen the space between the bars. I figure mine are about 6' apart. It is a pain, because I can't activate both locks at the same time, but with som finagling, you can get it to work. I have a Ford Escape, so with door mounted bars in front and rail mounted bars in back, I can get the 6' span. |

Sully, I know that this post is fairly old but I just purchased a Sport and want to buy the Hullavator because we're putting the kayaks on top of a Chevy 3/4 4x4 tall truck and it is very tall for a short person like me. I looked at the newenglandkayakfishing site for your pics but could find them. Are they under the photos section and under your same user name? Also, when you mean bottom side up, I'm assuming that you are placing the kayak on the hullavator flat side down. Is that correct? Is there a reason not to place it right side up? Thanks for your input. |
