Post subject:  Buying a slightly used Hobie outback

I may have an opportunity to purchase a slightly used blue hobie outback . The seller said it's 2005 model. The price is right but i'm concerned about the drive cracks. I understand that Hobie stands behind their products but does it matter if you are the second owner? I don't want to get stuck with a cracked hull. How long does hobie warrenty their hulls? How can I check for cracks in the hull when I look at it ? Is there a way to tell by the serial no# what year the yak really is? Lots of questions I know, Sorry
Any info would help.
Thanks, Baldyaker

Post subject:  Second owner warranty?

The warranty on kayaks is for two years. The drive well crack is a known issue. We would cover this for a longer period than what is written in the policy as a good faith measure. We would likely add a small prorated charge after a few years, but still cover it. We will extend warranty on the boat age, rather than the first or second owner basis.

You can determine age from the serial number. There is a FAQ on it: http://www.hobiecat.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=485
