Post subject:  Flipper spring suggestion?

Just had an idea for a more durable flipper design. If a heavy duty stainless steel spring was added to the base of the flipper it could handle most underwater impacts without damaging the drive. may be something like this.

See enlarged view of spring, could be threaded right in. Obviously it would have to be very stiff, but I think it could work.

What do you think

We have toyed with hinging masts. There are some problems with the concept. The spring would flex to the side under load too.

Keep thinking!

A break-away, so the whole drive isn't destroyed. Although I ran mine at full speed into some rocks last year and they only bent a little.
