Post subject: | Installed new Hobie hatch |
The new hatch from Hobie is said to be easier to use and more water resistant. I ordered the 8 inch version a couple of weeks ago to replace the center hatch on my Adventure. The new seal is an angled gasket installed on the door, not the base. The single handle is lifted then turned as the screw. This forces the seal to press out into the base as the hatch and base dock. The old hatch had six fasteners while the new one has eight. This results in a different bolt pattern for 8-inch hatch. The smaller hatch (six inch I think) is said to have the same pattern as the one it replaces. Nice job ![]() Way better than the original hatch. Is the back hatch the same? I just ordered an Adventure and am curious if Hobie installs these new hatches factory or is it an upgrade? |

No, I only changed the center hatch. I also think all new Hobies will come with the new hatches. For the restb of us though it is an owner installed upgrade. I now also plan to change out the center hatch on my Quest. |

I know, old post, but My Hobie Quest came without a rudder and rear hatch, so after 2 seasons ordered both in the US, installing was easy, following the instructions, only pointer is that the hatch comes with only two screws, as it is ment as a replacement hatch, thus re-using the 6 old screws. So, Quest owners need to order the screws seperatly!, (Metric 4.8x19mm will do in Europe) PF |
