Hi Everyone...This is my first post and I hope I'm posting in the correct forum.

I just bought a Hobie Revolution last week for $1499.00 from a local Outfitter. I didn't realize that I got the demo model until I got home and notice the word demo had been molded into the body. They did tell me it was only in the water once but I'm beginning to think a little more than that. Underneath are several scratches...similar to dragging it along the concrete. Pedals, seat and paddle are all new.

This is my first Kayak...so my biggest concern are the scratches underneath and if this is normal for kayaks?

In my opinion the scratches are very normal. The only time I didn't have scratches on my Hobie Revo was when I took it from the store to the lake for the first time. After that I accumulated lots of scratches. Just normal signs of use!

I think its nearly impossible to use a kayak on a regular basis and not have scratches.Even when your super careful and it doesnt feel like you hit anything scratches seem to appear magically.

Welcome to the Forum. As long as you got the full warranty and document the scratches you should be covered. Didn't know they had or sold demo models. Was it sold as a Demo. Check with the dealer.

Sure you will love the kayak. Have fun.

Our brand-new kayak out got all scratched up on its maiden voyage, so it's possible that the boat was only in the water once. And we were careful!

I've never seen one of these plastic boats that wasn't all scratched up, at least on the bottom. I wonder if there's some protectant to prevent scratches, or a way to get them out.

Congrats on your new boat, btw!

scratches are inevitable, leave them alone, the raised surface around the scratch actually prevents some additional ones. Took new PA out last week used cart, didnt drag it up on shore still got a couple. The protectant helps but doesnt prevent. It takes a lot to produce a leak and there are weld kits for that.
