I was just offshore the other day when a few dolphins came by. They seemed oblivious to the kayak -- I wondered if I was going to collide with one of them.
After passing by, they just kept moving without any pause or deviation.
Yesterday in the back reaches of Mission Bay (San Diego) there was another group. It's rather unusual to see dolphins in that bay since it's a man made, relatively shallow body of water. Anyway, they seemed a bit more interested in the Hobie and ran along side for a few minutes before going about their other business (probably fishing). It was hard to get good pics since one never knew where they would pop up next and the shutter lag on the camera wasn't quite quick enough for the action. Nevertheless, it was a rare treat to play with them.
Earlier in the morning I ran across a women's rowing event called the Fall Classic and had a front row seat for most of the race. Those 55 ft. shells are as sleek as they are fast!
It's always good to have your camera a quick grasp away -- you never know what may show up!
