Does anyone use a car carrier for their outback? If so which one? and Can you post a picture so I can see how it supports the hull. I've never seen one in a carrier, and would love to try one as its a hassle to get everything out of the kayak in order to tip it upside down to get on the car. Cheers, David2444 |

Carry upside down, and you will get better gas milage. Remember to tie both front and back of yak to steady the yak and not slide forward or backward.. Good Luck |

I have a set of Thule racks, can you get them in the US? Have a set of cradles on these which I have had for some time with previous yaks. They are great as they keep the kayak extremely stable and if you haved any protruding mounts on the kayak sides the don't interfere with loading. |

I use a Thule 887 Slipstream. I use it on an SUV, so the load/unload angle is pretty steep. One-man operation requires lifting one end at a time, and a piece of carpet or towel to protect the stern if you're on a hard surface or gravel. But overall, very easy to use - even by myself I can load/unload in under 5 minutes. Without the roller on the rack, I'm pretty sure I couldn't get it on top of the vehicle without a second set of hands. The kayak sits upright supported by four pads/cradles. Super stable even at highway speeds (properly strapped, of course). Most of my kayaking is within a few miles of home so gas mileage wasn't a major consideration for me. |

When we had a Sport and Outback in 2009, we used a Thule Hullivator. Pix can be found here. |
