Hello to one and all! Another newbie to the Hobie family ![]() I built this rack thinking that it would be the best use of limited space and keep our new babies happy. Now, after reading some posts I am having second thoughts. I am posting some pictures because as they say a picture is worth a thousand words... Can anyone comment on the long term storage feasibility?? It's made of 2x4's and has a 15% angle. Thanks in advance and hope to hear back. ![]() ![]() |

On the side rails... resting on wide, flat 2x4s and padded too? No problem... Perfect in my mind. |

The 2010 Outback I bought yesterday had been left on the Hobie cart and had a slight flat spot where it was resting on the cross bar. It is something to watch for. |

I have my Outback mounted on side racks and I have found that it does put indentations in the side in hot weather. Consequently I am looking at a redesign where the kayak is stored upside down on a rack. Particularly now we have bought a Sport for my wife and will have to extend the rack. Fortunarely the plastic has good memory and the indentations came out of their own accord. |

I made something similar to store 3 Hobies, added casters to move the whole rack around garage. The Adventure's on top, Oasis & Revo below. It's only about 30" wide, so I can still get car in garage! ![]() Bob |

Bob how long have you had them like this and have you noticed any deformation in the side walls? Nice rack idea. |

I've been using it since this past summer, works great, no deformations. |
