Can't see the rudder but it looks like its close to a 06. I assume nothing is stamped in the hull near the stern. Good chance on the date if the drive sprocket is stainless steel. |

Yes, older model cargo area and rudder. Pre-Twist and Stow rudder. |

If it's a 2006 and in average condition, what would be a fair ballpark price to pay for it? How does the rudder work anyway? I have a 2008 Oasis, which has the Twist and Stow rudder. Not sure how the older ones work. Does it stay in the water? Thanks for your replies! ![]() |

I bought one with a sail for $600. Sold it later for the same thing without the sail. This older model is a bit tippy it you don't have enough weight in the kayak. If the user is under 125, it's not good. The new models don't have this problem. The rudder twist up with a the second knob by the seat. Works well, the only problem was that it did not lay flat when up, making it difficult when turning the kayak over. |

Rudder on these boats works well enough in my experience. If you find you are getting water into the hull, check the rubber seals on the hatches & consider taking the hatches right off & reinstalling them with a bed of sealant between deck and flange. Also look closely at the mast tube - mine had 2 pop rivets in it which allowed water to seep into the hull when the mast tube filled up with water - a quick dob of silicon in the centre holes of the rivets & the problem was solved. |

I went to see the kayak yesterday. The owner is selling it for $800, which I thought was too much. I figured I could negotiate a fair price, but after looking at the boat it's not worth it. The kayak has a leak in the front of the drivewell that was repaired 6 months ago and still leaks. 30 minutes in the water with that kayak and you'll be swimming with the fishies. Thanks for your replies!! ![]() |

Looks like a 2005. I think they went to the large hatch up front in 2006. I had a 2005 that I bought used a year and half ago for $800, which is a great price. Sold it to my brother. Just make sure it has the mirage drive well re-enforcement kit. If not, you can get it free from Hobie. |
