Post subject:  Using 2 sets of Sidekick crossbars to mount a long outrigger

Hi all,

I'm planning on fitting some full-length (2.1m) outriggers to my Revo and have been thinking about using the Hobie Sidekick bars to mount the floats to the hull.

The main advantage is that the Sidekick bars are very easy to remove and would make things a lot easier to live with.

These are the outriggers I'm planning to use:

I'd mainly be using them to make a more stable fishing platform and maybe a bit of light sailing - I'm not expecting to use it like an A.I.!

The alternative I have is to get some custom crossbars made up - which may prove to be more costly.

If I go with the Sidekick gear I believe I'll need the following parts:

72062011 SIDEKICK - MOUNT BRACKET BOTTOM (x4)
72062021 SIDEKICK - MOUNT BRACKET TOP (x4)
72062041 SIDEKICK - CROSSBAR MIDDLE (x2)
72062201 SIDEKICK - BENT ARM (x4)

Can anyone (Matt?) can you offer any suggestions whether there would be an issue with the Sidekick hardware not being up to the task?

Cheers,

Mike.
