Post subject:  mirage drive switchover

how about using the newer "drop in" mirage drive unit in an older model hobie with the twist lock system? any problems?

No problem at all using a new MirageDrive in an older boat.

Using the older twist-lock drives in the newer click'n'go system can cause the click'n'go gates to open while pedalling. The ends of the central pin of the drive are rounded on the twist-lock drives (chamfered for the click'n'go versions).

Replacement pins are available from Hobie if you change your hull - and replacement is easy just slacken the cables and knock your rounded pin out using the new chamfered version and then retighten your cables.
