We have been taking our choco lab mix puppy out in our Outbacks this summer, I put some nice rubber matting in the rear well but he decided he is an up in the front of the kayak dog. He has excellent balance, almost never falls over and can and often does walk from the front to the back of the kayak, including stops to lap sit which makes using the pedals a little difficult. He has amazing adventures whenever we go out on the water. We put some rubber matting on the front hatch and nose so he can get a good grip and tied a tennis ball to the front handle so he has something to chew on. He has not even come close to tipping us over and easily navigates the sidewalls to travel back and forth. WVMJ

He looks like a proud captain.

I've been thinking about what I can use for mats for my Jack Russell, he's totally spastic and will slip, slide and claw away around the boat, I can only imagine what it would like if I don't come up with something. I have some michelin rubber car mats but they are black so not likely the best solution for sunny days. Have to see if I can find some in light grey.

We used diamond stick back matting from Cabelas.com, the black makes the gjue stickier, he has no problem gripping them with the pads of his feet. WVMJ
