I set up my '08 Oasis for fishing w/ Scotty compact threaded mounts behind front seat and recessed rod holders behind rear seat and built a pvc trolling rod holder and rod carrier w/flag mount to fit in them. (attached pics) If I was to do it all over, I'd still install the Scotty compact threaded mounts and rocket launcher rod holders behind front seat and would install Ram tube rod holders behind rear seat. I've done it this way on my '11 Oasis and it works great! Also with the standard flush mounts on the new Oasis, I built a pvc rod holder to slip in giving plenty of vertical storage for rods, net, light. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Bob, Nice setup. Can you provide more detail on how you mounted the cutting board on the hatch? Thanks |

It's just bolted through hatch lid. On the '11 Oasis I just used marine goop to secure it, just as secure, and no residue gets stuck in screw recess! |

How did you flare the PVC ends? |

I heat up the pvc with a heat gun until it is soft, then push an empty wine bottle into softened pvc until I get the desired flare. Wipe the pvc with cool wet rag, while still pushing in bottle to maintain shape, till pvc cools and hardens. Takes a little practice, but easy to correct mistakes, just reheat and try again! If you want to form smooth bends in pvc, fill with sand first and cap ends before heating and bending, it will give a more uniform bend. |

Hey Bob thanks for the tips. What type of ballast do you use when fishing solo in the Oasis and how many pounds do you use? Any chance you can post a pic of 11 decked out? Thanks |

My go to fishing yak is the Adventure, Oasis is for when my wife wants to fish! I have used it for sailing solo and usually fill a large rubber maid bag with water and place in front drive well for ballast. The weight of bag+water is about 70lbs. The bag is easy to store in front hatch when not using and when needed it's there, just fill w/water, when done just empty! Will try to upload pics of the '11 rigged Oasis this weekend. |
