Post subject: | Matt Miller a question re 2012 seats and their insert plugs |
Matt, I'm in the process of finalizing my Hull Only Revo 11 purchase. Apparently, Hobie has changed the seat plugs and the seat plug on our 2009 Oasis seats don't work in the Revo 11. On my seat I use the seatback adjustable plug kit 81265101 (which works great in our Oasis). Does Hobie have an after market seatback plug kit for the older seats, or will I have to buy another seat. Thanks Dave |

I'm not clear on what you are trying to achieve. The new 2012 Revo will come with a new seat. Seat pegs themselves are interchangeable from one seat to another. The 2012 peg system will not work in older boats. Older pegs will not work in a 2012 model hull. We do have both older types of pegs available. You could buy a 2012 boat and downgrade the seat pegs to fit an older model boat. The expandable peg kit is # 81265101 (pair) We do not have a kit to upgrade older boats to the 2012 system. Installation of the fittings into the hull is considered too difficult (requires tapping threads) and there is a potential of peg hole failure if done incorrectly. |

Lets try this again. ![]() I have two seats in great shape from my 2009 Oasis. I will be buying a hull only Revo 11 this week or next week. (I only need the hull as we have two mirages, two paddles, two cassettes and other gear.) To avoid buying a new seat for my hull only Revo 11, are there peg attachments to fit and enable my 2009 Oasis seat to fit in my new Revo 11? mmiller wrote: I'm not clear on what you are trying to achieve. If you want to use your '09 seat for both boats, you can remove the 2012 peg inserts from the new hull by unscrewing them. Then your old seat pegs will work directly in both boats without having to convert them back and forth. The better option IMO is to bite the bullet, buy the new 2012 seat for your new 2012 boat and keep it as a dedicated seat. That way you have enough seats to launch both boats with at least one Drive for each. This will accommodate grandkids, friends, or opportunistic strangers. Besides, if you ever sell one boat or the other, you won't come up short. ![]() |

After sleeping on it, I came to the same conclusion: Bite the bullet and buy a new seat. That way I can have two seats dedicated to our Oasis and one for my new Revo 11. This will result in less hassle. Less hassle usually equals more time kayaking instead of screwing around with the hassles. ![]() Roadrunner wrote: If you want to use your '09 seat for both boats, you can remove the 2012 peg inserts from the new hull by unscrewing them. If buying a seat separate from the boat... order the seat plus the 2012 peg kit. We do not currently stock 2012 configured seats in our parts warehouse. |
