Post subject: | Launchig in the surf with mirage |
Hi, my wife and I just picked up 2 mirage classics. we intend to launch in the Florida surf. We have paddled out in standard yaks before, but we are new to the mirage system. I wondered if anyone had any tips? Is it a good idea to engage the system prior to hopping on? Would it be better to paddle out past the breakers before mounting the mirage? bob |

You risk losing the drive over the side if you wait. I prefer to mount the drive, hold one foot forward to keep the fins tucked up against the hull (or use the shock cord pedal retainer), use the paddle until you are deep enough to pedal. |

Thanks, mm. I now have learned 2 things! I thought that perhaps the shock cord was a leash to save the drive in case of rollover. I did not receive a users manual with the boats. bob |
