I may have missed it during a search, but has anyone else experienced spinning of the V2 brass insert for the fin mast? My last outing was a 16.63 mile punishing of my Mirage drive with hidden logs, cypress knees, etc. I have straightened my fin masts many times in place, but figured I would go ahead and replace them this time. After some difficulty I got one mast out, but it seemed like I had to unscrew it for an abnormally long time before it disengaged. The 2nd mast took even longer and I don't even have it removed yet. I noticed that the brass insert is spinning with the fin mast. No threads are even showing yet on the fin mast I am trying to remove. Looks like I may have to replace the entire sprocket assembly. |

If the insert is spinning you should just replace the sprocket for a new one. Not exactly sure why, but sometimes they can come loose - probably from using too much loctite on the masts either at the factory or from a user who installs a Turbo kit, luckily though it's an easy swap - call a dealer for help toll free 1800hobie49 |
