How far apart should I have the crossbars on my rack to transport my outback? Just put this rack on the jeep pick the kayak up soon. ![]() jeep by davehales60, on Flickr |

The distance you have them look just fine. Basically you want the yak resting on the wider area i.e. the side trays rather than the nose/hatch area in font or around the rudder in the back. I carry my Outback on cradles, hull down, on the roof rack which are super secure and on bars, hull up on my trailer. |

Thanks. Picked up the outback and all seemed to go well. |

I'm thinking about transporting my new Outback, bottom side down on a trailer with 2" pvc pipe as bunks lined up to rest in the channels either side of the center keel. Does anyone see problems with this method of transport? |
