Post subject:  Mast Mount Fish Finder Screen Size
Hello. Just picked up a new Revo 13 today! Can't wait to get it out on the water. This is my first Mirage drive kayak and my first time in/on one.
I would like to mount a FF on the mast hole. It looks like the Lowrance 4" unit is popular with Hobies. Has anybody found it to be too small for the farther mast mount location? Maybe the 5" would be better suited for that location?

I have a 4-inch model on both my Outback and Revolution and both are installed in the sail mast pole tube. I can see them fine. I can also reach them with very little trouble, although I have to scoot forward a bit.

My FF is mounted on PVC pipe in the mast socket with a 45 degree bend and another length of pipe to bring it up and over the drive pedals. I can easily reach it this way. The photo shows my unpainted prototype. The tube with the red ends is the battery pack.

I have a GArmin echo 200 in the mast with the RAM 1" ball and mount. Perfect size.

I dont fiddle with the different screen views at all. This would be your biggest decision-

Hell, I just installed a little Garmin 90 (2" B&W screen) this weekend, and tested it yesterday -- works perfectly, and I can read it just fine.

Best of all, it's a secure - yet temporary mount -- so I can move it between kayaks, or leave it at home, most of the time, since I rarely bother with sonar.
