Has anyone tried these one way valves?

The Austin Kayak web site has a review of this item by a Hobie Kona owner. All reviews say these are a good product. How does a Hobie owner know if they'll fit his kayak, short of buying and trying? Matt, could Hobie buy a few and provide guidance here on the forum?

Agree. Why would Hobie want to do anything other than copy the idea?

They can't cost more than a few $. If anyone is that interested they'll need to get their hand in their own pocket.

Not a project I would take on...

They appear to have several sizes of scupper plugs and scuppers, but only list one size (medium) of this scupper "Valve". No sure why. Maybe never built the other sizes?

There is a chart of their suggested sizes here: http://www.oceankayak.com/uploadedFiles/Website_Library_Assets/Files/Product_Support/Scupper%20Size%20Chart%202012%20%282%29.pdf

Their plugs look to allow for a wide variation in scupper size and they have many sizes. The valve appears to have a very tight tolerance. I can't see it working in many sized scuppers.

I have no comparison data of scupper dimensions for our boats.

If you tape over the forward 2/3 to 3/4 of the scupper holes on the hull bottom, you will achieve the same results... until you stop moving :)
