| Post subject: | twist and stow rudder troubles |
Since getting my new hobie Outfitter in July, my twist and stow rudder has broken 3 times (the handle has fallen off twice). More recently, it broke after the Hobie recommended Outfitter bungee replacement for the rudder assembly which my dealer graciously performed. I am not abusing it and handle it with caution. I am beginning to wonder is there a design flaw here - are others owners with the twist and stow having the same experience or is it just my boat? I have put in an order for the sailing rudder upgrade to enhance sailing capabilities but am having second thoughts whether the rudder mecanism could handle the extra weight and mass. Any thoughts? |

Must have something mis-adjusted or something. The system works easily in most cases. Perhaps the rudder is turned hard to one side? That can bind the control lines. I turn the rudder slightly to starboard when lowering and raising too. |
