Post subject:  Float Plan

Tommorrow will be my first time out on my Outback. I've read all the safety posts and I think I'm prepared. I was wondering how other people handle thier float plan. I was going to leave one copy with the wife and leave one in my truck. Is this good enough?

Depends on where you're going and for how long. Water conditions and tides? Is it isolated? Don't wander off too far until you're comfortable with all the gear.

It should be fine. If we don't hear from you again, we'll think the worst, so be sure and give us a report. Happy kayaking! 8)

VHF handheld radio to scream "MAYDAY" into is one way to go.

I plan on going to the intercoastal waterway near the Great Dismal Swamp tommorrow. I can see both sides of the canal and there is some boat traffic. Got to bush up on the Rule of the Road. If anyone is looking for a very good website for a float plan, check out http://floatplan.uscgaux.info
