The simple answer is no....But it helps. I carry both a stake out pole and an anchor at times because of the varying depths I fish. Sometimes I stick the anchor pole through the scupper hole in front of me if I need to pinpoint a stop quickly because I saw baitfish scatter or birds diving. If I am planning to fish a planned out specific spot like a point in the marsh, I use the anchor trolley so I can position the kayak exactly how I want it (back to the wind, facing how I want to with respect to the current, etc). I have also used my anchor trolley to better control my drift chute when fishing offshore. Just my .02 Tight Lines |

No, but it makes it easier to adjust your position where you are fishing. With the trolly, by sliding it, you can reposition and turn the kayak around 180 degrees if desired. |
