Post subject:  Is the keel/underwater part of an Outfitter like the Outback

We know this some what younger couple, and they like our Oasis. However, an Oasis will not fit in their condo garage. An Outfitter will fit in an area of their garage. They could load or unload an Outfitter in their condo out of sight.

They have a pickup with a small 6' bed, and they would feel better with an Outfitter than an Oasis transporting it around our metro area because of less overhang with the Outfitter.

They have held off buying an Outfitter because the old Kayak seats were not comfortable and concern about taking on water when we have wind..

Most of their dual use would be in their local river, which can get 1' waves in our windy afternoons. Saltwater use would be limited to the protected waters of Bodega Bay, Jenner, and other small protected bays.

He weighs about 190#, just under 6' with normal length legs. She weighs about 130 and is about 5'6".

He would use it solo for fishing our rivers and local Bays, and she might go along just to watch and steer the yak.

They were told a couple of years ago that he might get wet in the rear both solo dual, and she could get splashed in front with an Outfitter.

The new seats and ability to drain water while moving would be nice.

So does the Outfitter's keel bottom look and work like an Outcast?

Would having waterproof/breathable Kayak pants be over kill or appropriate with an Outfitter.

It's wet boat in anything apart from flat calm/tiny waves. Mostly in the front but you can get dumped on in the rear. :D

I wear short wetsuit bottoms and a drytop in Scotland,

Thanks. I will pass this on.

This is probably a deal breaker.

In the area they want to use it. Moderate to high winds are an everyday happening on our rivers, lakes and ocean bays/inlets. Sometimes, you can time the wind and sometimes not.

We have minimal if any wetness in our Oasis. Sometimes we get some spray, but again that is minimal.

Thanks for your reply.
