Wally, here are a couple of photos of my old style rudder and the line attachments. When the handle is pointing aft, the rudder is down.

Greetings, Sonny Boy bought an older Hobie Marage Kayak. Rudder was removed for who know's why. New "OLDER" ( NOT Twist and tilt ) rudder is inhand and bolted to the Kayak. Left and right cables connected and work fine. HOW !!!! does old Dad connect the up and down controls ???? Single handle up and down. After 5 hours...I am just about to give up!!! Hi, I just picked up an old Mirage tandem with the old style rudder and am looking for some help! I bought a new rudder as the old one was broken and am trying to figure out how the rudder up/down system works. Looks like all these previous posts are so old that the pics and videos are gone... The Rudder Stainless Steel Mount bar is bent to the side and I am not sure if that is because it was abused and hence the broken rudder or whether it is intended to be that way (like the newer ones)? Any help is welcome thanks Malte |

thanks so much, I was able to bend it back straight and after adjusting the strings I can lock it into the rudder down position with the lever but the up position of the lever only releases the downward tension but doesn't lift it up. What am I missing? If I tension the upward string more it keeps it from going all the way down? |
