Post subject:  Broken right pedal crank

I was out the other night paddling against heavy wind and current. I snapped the the right pedal crank assembly right at where the pin goes through the adjuster for the pedals. Wondering if anyone else had this issue?? Thanks

This appears to be a recurring theme, with 2 posters just today. I know it's apparently just a bad batch, but maybe Hobie could reintroduce solid cranks for heavy duty users and/or thosè seaking peace of mind when a few miles offshore.

Drives are covered for two years, so make a claim. I'd even suggest making a claim if a bit older than that.

This consistency problem was solved last winter, so I'm sure these are from the period where we did see an elevated number of failures (still a very small percentage considering the number of MirageDrives built during that time). Some of our vendors issues were alloy and others were hardness related.

As tough as they are now... Solid cranks are not necessary and only add weight.
