Post subject:  Adding one AMA to the new revolution 16?

I have seen a lot of ocean kayak fishers with the adventure island using only one AMA. I'm interested in purchasing a revolution 16 and adding one AMA. This would add a lot of stability in the ocean, make a really good kayak crabbing and big fish landing platform, and in freshwater allow sight fishing, dog laying space, and increase storage space for kayak camping. I have no interest in purchasing the 2015 adventure island and really need the new seat due to back problems. The hobie website revolution 16 picture showing the features still shows that the mounting points for the crossbars are still there.

So is it possible to buy a revo 16 and then buy one AMA, akas, crossbars, and misc parts? If it's possible would a tandem island AMA also work?

The brass inserts for the aka attachment are gone on the Revo16.
Of course it would be possible to fit aka cross bars etc but they would need through bolting with backing plates.

There are a number of guys in my online forum 'NCKA' that consistently kayak fish with that same configuration. Maybe if there's enough interest expressed Hobie will consider a new single ama/tramp kit for the Revo16. I know I'd be interested in this.

I demod a 2015 revo 13 and its awsome. If adding the one AMA is possible I will preorder my 2015 revo 16 this week. Also talked to an AI owner running one AMA with a nice downrigger this weekend and he highly recommended the one AMA setup.

Is it possible to reach from the center hatch under the seat to install a backing plate and nut for the trough bolts? I think i could fabricate a plastic backing plate easily if hobie cannot provide one.

Can anyone from Hobie tell me if this is the correct parts list for adding the right side ama to a 2015? Are any parts duplicate or not needed? Where can I find prices for these parts?

There are no inserts to accept the mounting bolts on the Rev 16, so as noted... you would have to through bolt the crossbars. I don't have specifications of what would work for that.

I would use two rear crossbars. Pricing is in the retail catalog or from your dealer.

(Pricing shown is USA / USD 11-2014)

# PART DESCRIPTION PRICE
2 79512701 XBAR V2 REAR $89.99
4 79510721 XBAR CLAMP TOP $9.99
4 79510731 XBAR CLAMP BOTTOM $9.99
1 79512201 AKA V2 (RIGHT) FWD $89.99
1 79512501 AKA V2 (RIGHT) REAR $111.00
1 79523202 AKA BRACE ASSY -V2 (RIGHT) $52.99
1 99303001 AMA PAPAYA $289.00
1 79527011 TRAMP SET GRAY (can only one be pruchased?) $389.00 SET ONLY

Have you considered the SideKick amas?
