Besides Hobie, what brands are good for inflatable kayaks? My friends want to buy one for use in Ocean City Maryland. I would buy a Hobie myself, but what would be a close second?

Thanks,

Fleet

There is not a close second. But do a search and see what options there are. Hobie will stand behind their product with support and help. I do not know of any other inflatable products that will have the same support. Good luck

LOL Took the words right out of my mouth. Just trying to help them out. A lot of people are shocked by Hobie's sticker price, but you definitely get what you paid for. I've never regretted spending more for a Hobie product.

The biggest difference is the MirageDrive. That is what makes an inflatable kayak actually work well. Paddling an inflatable generally sucks. They don't track, they have a lot of drag, the side tubes make it harder to paddle. The MirageDrive powers the hull like nothing. I always like to say that the drives can pedal a brick. There is so much thrust, you can move big objects like Islands and even tow other kayaks. It really is amazing.

I had purchased several Sea Eagle inflatable kayaks in the past and was very satisfied with them, especially the Fast Track model. There is also a Razorlite and Explorer model that is very impressive. Go to www.seaeagle.com. They offer a 180 day trial, free shipping, and a 3 year warranty.
