Any further word on this? We are getting ready to invest in a pair of Outbacks, and that rail (and associated accessories) would be extremely useful. Would love to have for this summer... |

Thanks. Bummer there isn't a universal kit. I have a 2015 outback and would love to put the h-rail on it. |

I got a pair of the 9" H-Rails today. Set them out on an Outback for locations: In the Tray along the seat: ![]() Here is over the map pocket: ![]() ![]() ![]() In front of the Rod Holder ![]() |

I'd put them on top so you don't lose the convenience of the molded in tubs. |

Thinking out loud here. Are these strong enough to carry the weight of the outback? Lemme explain: When you lift a Revo 11 or 13 overhead, the handles are pretty much at the balancing point so neither the bow nor stern feel weighed down; however in an Outback (even with the new matching rigid handles) the weight balance bow-stern is a bit off so you struggle more when loading it overhead. Just curious. |

If you are considering mounting a H-Bar on an Outback, be sure to locate it where it won't interfere with climbing back into the kayak if you get dumped out. |

Post subject: | Re: OUTBACK WITH H-RAIL |
I've seen this on a couple of Outbacks and want to add it to mine. i am leaning towards using a 9" on the front as in the last picture by KeuKayak and the video here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjfajhQ3qhM. I've also seen someone use a 21 inch rail and mounted it in front of the cup holder all the way to the front as in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eqVBkINDejQ. The last one may interfere with the built in rod holder, but it allows for a much cleaner fish finder install. Anyone tried either of these locations? Any suggestions on which may work better? |
